The planets of the Zodiac are divided into 2 SECTS; charts are described as DAY SECT or NIGHT SECT charts, and astrologers mostly don’t question this language.
SECT is a religious term: the most basic cosmology of humanity is story of the SKY GOD in heaven, reigning down his “seed” upon the EARTH MOTHER. The basic structure of the Zodiac gives us Signs that are FEMININE, Water or Earth, or MASCULINE, Fire or Air. The SECTS are linked to a MASCULINE SKY GOD realm, and a FEMININE EARTH MOTHER realm.

There were 2 types of religion in the ancient world: the Religion of the PUBLIC SPHERE, in which people showed up at state-sponsored events to rally around the Kingdom and its culture, officiated by Public Priests or Priestess, generally in the open; and the GODDESS MYSTERY CULTS, in which people attend secretive, up-close and experiential extended ritual dramas that test the body and expand the mind through fasting, hazing and ritual drug use, to tell a mythic cosmological story.
The HOUSES of astrology show the DAY SECT planets prefer to work in the LIGHT, the world of ideas; the NIGHT SECT planets prefer to work up close in the EMBODIED realm.
This course brings this ORIGINAL MEANING of SECT back to practical astrology. We will examine the role of these 2 religious types and how this helps define the planetary archetypes, and the Signs. We will introduce a possible historical event and origin for the 2 sects.
We will walk through the HOUSES of the Zodiac and its HOUSE JOYS, and the DIGNITY SCHEME of the Zodiac as expressions of the PERSEPHONE MYTH.
