Full Moon in Libra 2025: Rising from the Dead to find balance, authentic self-expression and abundance under fire
Full Moon in Libra will occur in the 24th degree of Libra on Saturn’s day, April 12, in the Moon’s hour at 8:20 pm EST. The Libra Full Moon is perhaps the most important lunation in the Christian calendar, because the subsequent Friday is Good Friday, the 18th this year, and Easter falls on the 20th. (Orthodox Christianity figures this differently.)
This lunation portends the impending resurrection of the Dying and Rising God.
The Full Moon will be closely conjunct the fixed star Spica, in Venus’ ruled Libra, in a decan ruled by Jupiter and Mercury. Spica is one of the most benign stars in the sky, signifying great abundance, and the humble wisdom, acumen and knowledge required for cultivation. Traditionally that meant agriculture (Spica is part of sidereal Virgo, which has drifted into Tropical Libra over the millenia), but we can broaden this to include the arts and sciences as a whole: Spica allows us to see the underlying structures and logic of nature, of the loving, fertile Goddess herself.
This decan’s story is one of seeking balance in a world where all motion requires imbalance. We cannot get anywhere without committing our bodies and minds to imbalance: we must be prepared to find equilibrium in motion, to achieve grace and stability in a world of constant change.
The Moon is the midwife of our reality: her full-bodied proximity to Spica in this decan reminds us to seek the underlying patterns and structures of our sentient and enchanted world, while we are constantly changing our perspectives. Libra Moon seeks justice and harmony, and brings us toward community, while the Aries Sun continues to demand emergence, separation, individuation and action. This lunation makes it clear that we no longer can remain deluded by surface level narratives that repeatedly lead us into self-negating feedback loops. We must look beyond.
The final decan of Aries is ruled by Jupiter and Venus. The 2 benefic archetypes bring a more artful, dramatic and even theatrical quality to the Mars ruled territory. Here we find fierce attraction, fiery passion and fearless self-expression in the face of conflict and tragedy. In Aries territory, one must advocate for oneself even if it destroys shallow or inauthentic relationships, and we can do so in a way that is raw, artful and values beauty and well-crafted self expression.
As the Sun drives forward through the uncompromising Arian territory, Mercury, Venus, Saturn and the Dragon’s Head will all be immersed in the last degrees of emotive, cool and watery Pisces, under Jupiter rule. They will be under the watchful eye of Jupiter himself in Gemini, in a trine to Mars in Cancer.
Mars will be in T-Square with the opposed Luminaries, in the 28th degree of Cancer, ruled by the Moon. This aspect represents a conflicted engagement that is incomplete, lacking the 4th point of view that would come from a Grand Cross, and therefore is difficult to resolve. This decan is ruled by Jupiter and the Moon, and has perhaps the strongest signification of abundance and even excess of any of the 36 faces.
This lunation affords the opportunity to confront the poverty mindset that debilitates us, collectively and as individuals. Venus is preparing to station direct in close proximity to Saturn, in the sign of Venus’ exaltation: this helps remind us to value solitude and carefully cultivate a positive inner landscape, without devolving into a victim identity which can bubble to the surface in the cathartic waters of Pisces.
